Gold Coast parish farewells murdered mum

Murdered teenage mum, Rachael Myring, who was killed by a client at the real estate office where she worked, was buried yesterday after a moving funeral at Mary Immaculate church at Ashmore on Queensland's Gold Coast.

Funeral celebrant, Fr Paul Chandler, said that people were still struggling to come to grips with the utterly senseless way Ms Myring died, the Courier-Mail reports.

"I'm sure all of us in this church feels this is one of those occasions that makes you want to cry out 'Why?'" he told the congregation.

"Over and above the anguish that Rachael's death has caused, there is the added question: 'Why did this have to happen in this way and at this time?'"

"God does not send these experiences that crush us," Fr Chandler said.

"They come to us ... from the condition of this world."

Ms Myring had been filling in at the Elders Real Estate Logan Central reception desk last Thursday when a tenant, Francisco Munoz, of nearby Woodridge, shot her at point blank range in the face.

The Spanish immigrant then turned the shotgun on himself.

Police believe confusion over a new rental payment system and poor English skills triggered the murder-suicide.

Ms Myring was remembered yesterday at the same church where she was baptised for her vitality, friendliness, generosity and thoughtfulness.

She had just bought her first home and was planning to marry co-worker Nathan Edwards, with whom she had a young son.
