ABC Regional News quotes Tusyn, a former ward of the state and abuse victim, as saying that hundreds of girls were forced to work in laundries run by the church's Magdalen Home.
Mr Tusyn said the church would not compensate the "laundry girls" who worked at the home, which is on the site of the church's Mount St Canice complex in Hobart.
Mr Tusyn said the State Government should step in and order a full inquiry.
"They were fed, bed and worked, no teaching went on with these girls, they just kept them there," he said.
