Brisbane boy in hospital after school stabbing

Teenager charged

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder over the stabbing of a student at a Brisbane Catholic school yesterday, reports AAP on SBS.

The 15-year-old victim is recovering in hospital after being stabbed at Mt Maria College at Mitchelton, in Brisbane's north, yesterday afternoon.

Yahoo7 reports that an ambulance was called to the school just after midday to help the victim, who was stabbed in the neck. Detective Inspector Mark Reid says the incident occurred in the school auditorium.

He says the victim sought help from other students, while the alleged 14-year-old offender left the school and called 000 to raise the alarm. 'As a result of patrols he was located and was quite distraught,' he said. 'He's now in custody assisting investigators.'

The school was placed in lockdown for some time as a precaution.
