She talks about growing up the only child of beloved parents in Western Australia, her unplanned entry into journalism and broadcasting, her work at Nationwide, The National, Life Matters, Compass and the 1991 Gulf War (which won her a UN Media Peace Prize), her husband, the late Ian Carroll, her Catholic faith, and the importance of ritual in modern life.
