Bp Heenan with parishioners

The Bishop of Rockhampton, Brian Heenan, said his farewells to friends, colleagues and parishioners at a Mass last night, as he heads into retirement, reports The Morning Bulletin.

Bishop Heenan, 76, retired in October. He moved to Rockhampton 22 years ago to serve the Diocese of Rockhampton as Bishop, and became the longest serving Bishop of the Diocese.

Hundreds of people throughout Central Queensland gathered at St Joseph's Cathedral in Rockhampton to say goodbye to the much-loved Bishop, who is moving back to Brisbane to enjoy retirement.
