ABC Religion and Ethics Report

Sr Maribeth Larkin

Maribeth Larkin comes across as reserved but this feisty nun from the Sisters of Social Service is well-known for her battles for social justice on the streets of Los Angeles.

As an organiser with One LA -- a coalition of faith, labour, immigrant, housing and non-government groups -- she fights for access to education, transport, health and jobs for the city's low-income residents.

Sister Maribeth is currently working with grassroots groups in Sydney as part of the Sydney Alliance.

This program has been broadcast but is available for download and podcast from the ABC website.
