This Australia Day weekend, it seems only right to take a look at this website promoting the Cause of Caroline Chisolm, a woman who may very well become Australia's next canonised saint.
Caroline Chisholm, the 'immigrant's friend' and Servant of God, is well known in Australia. But the importance of her spirituality and Catholicism is often overlooked. This website hopes to change all that.
In her own lifetime she was renowned for her charitable work and for the social reforms and improvements she achieved in the 19th century.
She championed the cause of women and families, met poor immigrants at the docks, lobbied governments, and met with the powerful, including the Pope. Her fame has endured, and indeed, she used to be the face of the five dollar note.
The publishers of mrschisolm.com aim to increase knowledge and appreciation of the life and work of Caroline Chisholm, particularly of her heroic virtue, and to help in promoting the commencement and advancement of a Cause for her beatification in the Catholic Church and, in time, her canonisation.
To which we say... brava!
