Basilian Nuns

Basilian nuns

The Basilian Sisters are an indispensable part of the Ukrainian Byzantine Catholic Church and the faith community in Australia.

As feelings of solidarity and prayers for peace are currently being expressed for the people of Ukraine, it is timely to visit the website for the Sisters of the Order of St Basil the Great.

The need for nuns arose with the arrival of Ukrainian refugees in Australia and the erection of the Apostolic Exarchate in the 1960s.

Today, the Sisters have monasteries in North Melbourne in the Province of Victoria and Lidcombe (Sydney) in the Province of New South Wales.

You can read all about their history, spirituality and works at their homepage HERE.
