Musician and nurse ambassadors for Catholic Education Week

Annabel and Michael with students

Annabel Pike and Michael Mangan will be the official ambassadors for Catholic Education Week 2014 in Queensland, reports The Catholic Leader.

Annabel is a past student of St Agatha’s School and St Rita’s College, Clayfield. She is a nursing graduate of the Australian Catholic University’s Early Achievers Program and the recipient of the 2012 HESTA Australian Nursing Awards’ Outstanding Graduate of the Year. Annabel was also a Pride of Australia Medal State winner in 2013.

Michael is a past student of St Patrick’s School, Nanango, a former Catholic school teacher, composer and music liturgist, whose collection of songs is widely used in schools and parishes in Australia, New Zealand and North America.

He tours each year presenting school and parish concerts and Music in Liturgy workshops for teachers, catechists and parish musicians.

Both Annabel and Michael’s example and work truly bring to life this year’s theme for Catholic Education Week, 'Come, live life in all its fullness.'

It is intended they will visit each of the five Queensland dioceses during Catholic Education Week from July 27 to August 2 and engage with a variety of groups including students, staff, parents and parishioners.

Queensland Catholic Education Commission executive director Mike Byrne said he was delighted Annabel and Michael had accepted the invitation to be ambassadors.
