Lawyer, academic and prominent Aboriginal rights activist Noel Pearson will deliver the biennial Bishop Manning Lecture in Sydney on April 3.
Hosted by the Catholic Commission for Employment Relations (CCER), the free lecture will be the third in the series which has previously featured the Honourable Bob Hawke and economist Saul Eslake.
Pearson will deliver the lecture as Australia reflects on the release of 2014’s Closing the Gap Report, which found that no progress had been made in reaching the target to halve the employment gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australia within a decade (by 2018).
