The coffin containing the body of Cardinal Clancy will be received into St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney, this afternoon at 2pm. He will lie in State until his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10am.
In a statement released yesterday, the Archdiocese of Sydney said Cardinal Clancy’s enclosed coffin will be received by Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Sydney the Most Rev Terry Brady and the Dean of St Mary’s Cathedral Fr Paul Hilder. It will arrive at the College Street door (western door opposite Hyde Park).
People are welcome to attend the Cathedral this afternoon and Friday, including the Vigil Mass for the Repose of Cardinal Clancy’s soul at 7.30pm tomorrow evening.
The Mass of Christian Burial for His Eminence Cardinal Clancy will begin at 10am on Saturday. The Mass will be celebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio to the Holy See Most Rev Paul Gallagher. Concelebrating will be the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese Most Rev Peter A Comensoli. Also attending will be visiting bishops, priests, religious sisters and brothers and seminarians.
