Friends and family of Lachlan Murdoch and his wife Sarah gathered at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Rose Bay, Sydney, yesterday for the baptism of their daughter, six-month-old Aerin Elisabeth.
The Sydney Morning Herald said James Packer and his wife, the former model and one-time aspiring pop star, Erica, were tipped to be among the child's godparents, but Mr Murdoch's office did not comment on the matter, said the newspaper.
Looking picture perfect in a radiant white summer dress, Sarah Murdoch and her daughter set off a flurry of activity among the growing horde of photographers outside the church.
The Murdoch patriarch, Rupert, stayed close with his eldest daughter, Prudence. Elisabeth was joined by her brother James Murdoch, heir apparent to the global media juggernaut after Lachlan famously quit the family business and Manhattan to raise his family in Sydney.
Lachlan was kept busy by his sons, Aidan and Kalan, who kept themselves busy sliding down the hand rail outside the church.
Dressed in designer fashion and looking more Fifth Avenue than New South Head Road, Murdoch snr's former wife, Anna, Lachlan's mother, made a rare appearance.
