Intriguing discoveries at Galilee bring Gospel to life

The Magdala Stone

Mary Magdalene's hometown hid its treasures for nearly 2000 years. Among them are a synagogue in which Jesus almost certainly preached, an adjacent ritual bath complex, and a rare first century stone carved to depict the Second Temple.

The 2013 CathNews Pilgrimage to the Holy Land was joined by a Christian Broadcasting Network television crew at the recently discovered site of the first century synagogue in Magdala, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee.

In this news report from CBN, we are taken to the remarkable Duc in Altum church, and hear from some of the CathNews pilgrims and their hosts.

Our pilgrims visited the archaeological park, and attended an unforgettable Mass there (the first to be celebrated in English, the third overall) with Notre Dame of Jerusalem's Chargé, Fr Juan Solana, and his fellow Legionary of Christ, Fr Eamon Kelly, in this enchanting place.
