Read the Gospel from Mark 1:29-39.
One writer describes this account as a contemplative reflection on the Easter reality. And within this contemplative mystery on the Mount of the Transfiguration, we are commanded to “listen”.
We are well aware that the word “listen” is ακουετε in the Greek New Testament, and “obsculta” in Latin. The meaning is to incline the ear of one’s heart in obedience to the words of Christ, and to make a response in one’s life.
This Gospel has two powerful exhortations for each one of us:
Listen with the ear of the heart to the teaching of Christ and make your response.
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.
