Thousands will attend the Iona Passion Play which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this month.
The Catholic Leader reports the first performance in 1958 attracted 10,000, a number this year's organisers hope to repeat.
Running next week on Friday and Sunday (March 14 and 16) at Iona College, Lindum, 15km from Brisbane city, it will also be presented for the first time at Easterfest (formerly the Australian Gospel Music Festival) in Toowoomba on Good Friday.
The play's mission is to "to bring to all peoples, the life, death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, as told in the Gospels" and "to bring together people from various Christian persuasions in the true Christian Spirit of Easter".
Tickets for Australia's longest-running and only touring depiction of the Easter story can be secured by visiting Christian Supplies in Brisbane city, by phoning (07) 3333 1993 or via www.passionplay.org.au.
