International and Australian acts will showcase their talents over three afternoons and evenings during the WYD Festival from 15 – 20 July 2008.
Performers on the day will include German Christian punk bands, African drummers, autistic opera singers, Polynesian choirs and Indian pop bands.
WYD Youth Festival manager Claire Atkins said the response to the festival has been "staggering”.
“Pilgrims will be genuinely touched when they see and hear how the youth of Australia and the world creatively express and present their faith," Ms Atkins said.
“Performers from countries as far as Nigeria and Poland are really keen to be involved and show the world how they celebrate Catholic community and values,” she said.
WYD Youth Festival activities will take place at venues across the city of Sydney.
The final Youth Festival program will be announced next year, and will feature live music, theatre, performing arts, visual art exhibitions, debate, film, forums, conversations, community gatherings, street performers, workshops and a vocations expo.
