Big year for Melbourne Catholic schools

As the school year begins for thousands of Catholic kids, the Director of Catholic Education in the Archdiocese of Melbourne Stephen Elder has promised a “big year ahead.”

As part of World Youth Day celebrations in Sydney in July, Melbourne will be hosting Days in the Dioceses (DID08) from 10-14 July. Melbourne is expected to attract more than 25,000 pilgrims during the days.

Catholic secondary school students from the Archdiocese will also be travelling to Sydney for WYD08.

Another highlight of the year will be Catholic Education Week from 9 to 16 March. The theme is Living Witnesses which is drawn from the World Youth Day theme.

New parents to Catholic schools, will receive a copy of Catholic Schools: First Choice, Information Handbook for Parents and Guardians.

The handbook has important information about Catholic schools, including curriculum, student services, health and safety issues, useful contacts and important dates.

The handbook is available online at www.cecv.vic.catholic edu.au.
