Bishops need to brush up on IT

Indian Cardinal Telesphore Toppo has expressed dismay that he and many other clerics are computer illiterate in an age when the World Wide Web has turned human civilisation into a global village.

He was speaking at a four day IT workshop for bishops organised by the Indian Catholic Bishops Conference.

"I am almost illiterate in computer and the Internet," said Cardinal Toppo.

He described IT as "God's gift" to humanity, and said the Church should make full use of it to disseminate information and to teach and inspire its people.
