Diocese of Port Pirie Homepage

Mary MacKillop and Greg O

The Diocese of Port Pirie streches from the sea to the far Outback and Uluru. It is the place where Mary MacKillop began her mission. A Jesuit, Gregory O'Kelly, is the bishop of the vast diocese.

"The tyranny of distance", has real meaning in this vast diocese. Its website links locals, and provides insights into the goings-on in a unique corner of the Catholic world.

The website also contains news and events as well as information on St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, and a number of contributions, speeches and homilies by Bishop O'Kelly.

Bishop O'Kelly was awarded an Order of Australia for his contributions to education in 1994. He has been involved with various refugee communities and is a member of the Bishops’ Commission for Education, and of the National Catholic Education Commission.
