Helen Prejean

Sr Helen Prejean shot to world fame when her story inspired the 1995 Hollywood film Dead Man Walking, starring Susan Sarandon. Her website invites people to to learn, to explore and to reflect on the use of the death penalty.

Anti-death penalty crusader and human rights campaigner Sr Helen Prejean is a member of the Congregation of St Joseph, and something of a literary and cinematic celebrity in the United States.

After working as a spiritual adviser to a man on death row, she wrote Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States, which was made into a Hollywood film.

She continues her advocacy online.
