As the 175th anniversary year of the Sisters of Charity in Australia closes, it is a good time to look at the website of the women who carry on Mary Aikenhead's charism.
The Sisters of Charity of Australia are women religious who have been serving the people of Australia since 1838, and located in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.
Within the mission of the Church, they are committed especially to service of the poor and disadvantaged, and have a commitment to social justice and to the environment.
On several occasions, the Sisters have responded to invitations to serve in overseas mission for shorter or longer periods. When a new need is perceived, they endeavour to respond, they make themselves useful and constantly seek creative ways to help those in need. To many people, the Sisters of Charity provide a beacon of hope in times of uncertainty.
The closing events in the celebrations for the Sisters of Charity 175th anniversary are:
Aug 9 (Sat) All Saints, Liverpool. High Afternoon Tea, guest speakers, opportunity to reconnect with ex-students, Sisters, families, friends
