Coach takes parishes from ‘maintenance to mission’

Ron Huntley (Divine Renovation Network)

A “parish transformer” will be a keynote speaker at PROCLAIM 2018, the national conference that inspires, equips and encourages Catholic communities, reports the Brisbane Archdiocese.

Ron Huntley will travel from Canada to address PROCLAIM 2018 in Brisbane from July 12-14 next year. He is a key coach for parishes that are part of the Divine Renovation Network, which aims to give parishes the coaching, tools and guidance needed to take parishes from "maintenance to mission".

Mr Huntley will join a strong list of keynote speakers including Cardinal John Dew (Archdiocese of Wellington, New Zealand), Lana Turvey-Collins (Plenary Council 2020 Facilitator) and PROCLAIM 2018 host, Brisbane Archbishop Mark Coleridge.

The theme of the conference, to be held at St Laurence’s College, South Brisbane, will be “Make your home in me” (John 15:4).

This important initiative of the Bishops Commission for Evangelisation is expected to engage parishes in an ongoing conversation focusing on leadership, culture change, young people, belonging and evangelisation.

This conversation will draw together more than 500 participants for keynote presentations, facilitated conversation sessions, peer learning, expert discussion panels and future visionary planning.

Throughout the conference, delegates will be offered the opportunity to develop their own Proclaim action plan which they are invited to implement on returning to their local parishes and communities around Australia.

2018 will be a significant year for the Church in Australia as it has been declared the Year of Youth and it will also be a key time in the lead up to the Plenary Council 2020.

“We welcome dioceses, parishes and communities from across Australia and from overseas to experience the warmth and hospitality of Brisbane during Proclaim 2018,” said Director of Evangelisation Brisbane, Clyde Cosentino.

“This important national conference is well placed in the lead up to Plenary Council 2020 to explore the key themes of leadership, culture change, belonging, evangelisation and young people in relation to the renewal of Church life.”

PROCLAIM 2018 is organised and hosted by the Archdiocese of Brisbane, in partnership with the National Centre for Evangelisation on behalf of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.

Early bird registration is now open with parishes and individuals able to access discounted prices. To register please visit www.proclaimconference.com.au.
