Sydney Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP yesterday announced the appointment of Tony Farley as the next executive director of Sydney Catholic Schools. Source: Sydney Archdiocese.
Mr Farley will succeed Dan White, who is retiring at Easter 2019 after 10 years at the helm.
Mr Farley is currently the executive director of the Catholic Commission for Employment Relations (CCER) and brings to his new role more than three decades of experience in human resources and public policy across Catholic, government and union organisations. He also served on the Sydney Catholic Schools Board for a number of years.
Archbishop Fisher said he was looking forward to working closely with Mr Farley.
“Tony comes to the position with a deep knowledge and understanding of the Church and our school systems,” Archbishop Fisher said.
“I am confident that Tony will build on the good work of his predecessors and work in collaboration with our schools, wisely using our resources and upholding the mission and identity of Catholic education”.
Mr Farley paid tribute to Dr White and said he was honoured to take up the appointment.
“I am particularly keen to engage with our staff, the union, regulators and governments about how our teachers can spend more time on teaching and learning and less time on administration,” Mr Farley said.
“Strengthening the links between our schools and parishes will also be a priority and I am enthused about working with our priests, deacons, school staff, parents and students to make this happen.”
