The St Vincent de Paul Society is an international, voluntary, lay Catholic organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing assistance to anyone in need. In Australia, the Society has more than 40,000 members and volunteers, who work hard to assist people in need and combat social injustice. The Society in Tasmania is governed by the State Council and consists of four regions, 30 Conferences representing 245 members, 1,033 volunteers and approximately 100 employees.
Reporting to the State President, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing leadership and inspiration to the workforce in carrying out the important work of the Society. Based in Launceston, this state-wide role is responsible for the delivery of programs, the day to day management of the organisation’s services, the efficient operations of the office of the Society, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. This strategic leadership role will also assist with public representation, formulating the strategic plan, and advice and implementation of policy framework.
The successful applicant will continue to build the profile and public awareness of the Society through internal capability, relationships and representation within the community, government and other partners. Proven success in managing a service oriented business or not-for-profit organisation, combined with strong leadership and change management skills are essential. You must also have exceptional communication skills and the ability to build collaborative working relationships.
