Communications Manager - Lasallian Mission Council, Bankstown, NSW

As a member of a small team, the Communication Manager’s key objectives are to:

  • Manage the writing, editing and production of print publications, including regular print and e-newsletters and marketing material aimed at promoting Formation and youth ministry programs and upcoming Lasallian events;
  • Work with the Operations Manager in maintaining and enhancing the District website and social media channels utilising leading media practices which ensure an attractive and highly professional presentation of the District
  • Work with the Operations Manager in engaging external stakeholders as potential sponsors of District-wide Lasallian events and programs

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in journalism, communications, marketing or a similar discipline or appropriate work experience in a similar role
  • Excellent writing skills including experience in copywriting for different media and target audiences (print, e-news, websites, social media, speeches, reports etc.)
  • Sound working knowledge of digital and social media, particularly in developing interactive, dynamic and leading practice websites
  • Experience in managing communication projects and a demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • A self-starter with creativity, high level of attention to detail, lots of initiative, sound judgement and ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds; maturity and confidence; discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
  • A preparedness to enthusiastically support the ethos and the mission of the De La Salle Brothers and the LMC

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • An understanding of customer relationship management and the role of public relations in the not-for-profit sector
  • Experience in delivering internal and external communications activities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and monitor internal communications outcomes
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues throughout the organisation
  • Maintain and grow a stakeholder database including key communications contacts throughout the Lasallian community
  • Liaise with external graphic designers, printers and other professionals to develop the effectiveness of communications
  • Plan an annual schedule and work flow for all corporate publications and coordinate as required to ensure on-time delivery
  • Be responsible for E-communications
  • Develop and distribute regular e-newsletters
  • Manage the website: keep abreast of current leading practice for website design and utility to ensure that the Lasallian website is always accessible, attractive and user friendly

ACCOUNTABILITY AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Communications Manager reports to the Operations Manager.
