Director, Institute for Ethics & Society - The University of Notre Dame Australia, Broadway, Sydney, NSW

The Director will represent the Institute as a Thought Leader and represent the University in public forums; providing commentary on pressing issues.

  • Develop a vibrant research agenda in targeted fields of academic study
  • Provide expertise in ethics education for students and staff at Notre Dame
  • Deliver training services for industry in areas of professional ethics
  • Facilitate public engagement on issues of ethical importance

About the Position

Reporting to the Pro-Vice Chancellor Research and working in close collaboration with other senior staff members across the University, you will:

  • develop and implement the IES strategic plan and build the research culture of the Institute and the University generally, across all campuses
  • advance the research priorities of the Institute through competitive research income and industry/community end-user income
  • lead, mentor and develop the research capacity and capability of Institute staff members; managing the staff and budget of the Institute
  • develop and manage sustainable relationships /joint projects with external partners
  • teach into undergraduate and postgraduate courses and promote the incorporation of faith and reason within the individual Schools and disciplines of the University

The Director will represent the Institute as a Thought Leader and represent the University in public forums; providing evidence-based commentary on pressing ethical and social issues.

You will possess a research-based doctoral qualification and a distinguished record of research, publications, grants and funding specific to the IES focus areas. A commitment to and supportive of the Objects of the University is essential. Proven leadership skills in developing sustainable partnerships with industry and community organisations will see you advancing the research priorities of the institute.
