Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) is a peak body which is the national voice for the Leaders of almost 150 religious institutes across Australia. CRA represents and provides services to the Leaders at this time of change within the Catholic Church.

Reporting to the National Executive Director of CRA, the Professional Standards and Safeguarding Policy Officer will play a key role in providing expertise to assist in shaping CRA policy and practice in professional standards and safeguarding to promote a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults and hold the dignity of survivors with care and compassion. Responsibilities include:

  • Keeping up to date on legislation, policy and best practice in relation to professional standards/safeguarding
  • Providing advice and communications
  • Developing, managing and implementing resources to ensure compliance with legislation and standards
  • Working collaboratively with Catholic Church entities, survivor groups, government and many other agencies


  • Extensive experience in professional standards/safeguarding
  • Proven track-record in policy preparation and resources development to maintain a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults
  • Strong organisational, time management skills with the capacity to re-prioritise
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Capacity to deliver short and long-term projects
  • Strong member service and interpersonal skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitive information
  • Proven capacity to work with minimal supervision while also being a positive team player
