When Mr Fehon founded the Vinnies CEO Sleepout in 2006, only a handful of businesses took part. But on June 21 this year, at locations around Australia, 1400 CEOs will take part and $2.7 million has already been donated.

Mr Fehon was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia, for service to the community through social welfare programs.

“I’m very surprised, it’s not something that you go seeking,” the 54-year-old told the Blue Mountains Gazette. “I’m grateful for the recognition, hopefully it gives me the opportunity to talk to more people about the event.”

Sr Patricia Powell rsm was recognised with an OAM for service to the Church in Australia and the Diocese of Bathurst, The Western Advocate reports.

She is a member of the Bathurst Diocesan Pastoral Council, former co-ordinator of Adult Faith Education (2003-2007) and consultant and facilitator of Rahamim Ecology Centre, where she was previously director and a founding member.

She has also been the leader of the Bathurst Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy, on the General Council of Union of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and involved in Community Development Partnership with Indigenous people in Dubbo.

Reflecting on her Queen’s Birthday honour, St Patricia was quick to point out she hadn’t done it alone.

“Really, I’ve done, nothing, this (award) is for everyone who has supported or assisted Rahamim in any way,” she said.

Meanwhile, Melbourne priest Fr Joe Caddy was honoured with an AM for significant service to the community through a range of social welfare initiatives and policy reforms, and to the Church in Australia.

Fr Joe is Episcopal Vicar for Social Services in the Archdiocese of Melbourne and served as Chief Executive Officer for Catholic Care Melbourne from 2004-2017. He is parish priest at St Mary’s St Kilda.

Other Catholics who received honours include (but aren't limited to) Sr Joan Evans PVMB AO, Ms Rebecca Davies AO, Deacon Gregory Kerr OAM, Mr William Lovering OAM, Mrs Carmel Nash OAM, the late Mr John O’Brien OAM, Dr Meegodage Senake Perera OAM, Mr Francis Sheehan OAM, Mr Ross Tarlinton OAM, Dr Mark Turkington OAM, Sr Mary D’Apice RSCJ AM, Mrs Margaret MacMillan OAM, and Dr Catherine Day OAM.
