Australian priest Fr Rob Galea has recorded the official English-language version of the theme song for next year's World Youth Day in Panama. Source: The Tablet.

The song, Here I am, Servant of the Lord,  was translated from the original Spanish version and is sung by Fr Galea, whose journey from troubled teen to Catholic priest has become part of his distinctive evangelisation style. Also singing on the video are Australian singers, Natasha and Gary Pinto.

The anthem opens: “As your pilgrim people we are gathered here today, from every continent and city, longing to be true servants of the Lord, proclaiming your word to every nation. Teach us to say Yes, as Mary did that day, that your will be done as in heaven.”

Fr Galea’s video shows scenes of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI as well as Pope Francis at previous World Youth Days.

Deacon Pedro Guevara-Mann, head of the music and art department of World Youth Day, said: “World Youth Day is an international and multilingual event. We must not forget that even if half of the participants will speak Spanish, the other half understand English, French, Italian or Portuguese.”

The different national language versions of the anthems are on the official YouTube channel for Panama 2019.

The 34th World Youth Day takes place from 22 to 27 January 2019 in Panama.
