COVID-19 cases close church, school in two dioceses

St Agatha’s Church, Pennant Hills (St Agatha’s website)

St Agatha’s Catholic Church at Pennant Hills in the Broken Bay Diocese has been closed after a member of the parish tested positive for COVID-19.

Broken Bay Bishop Anthony Randazzo yesterday announced the Church will be closed for immediate deep cleaning and until further notice.

The diocese is working with New South Wales Health to contact trace those who have had close contact with the confirmed case of COVID-19 and will continue to follow the NSW Health advice.

People who were at a prayer group on Monday, August 3, between 7pm and 8pm have been advised to stay at home until NSW Health contacts them.

Parishioners are reminded that if they are unwell with flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath they must get tested immediately and isolate.

Meanwhile, 9News.com.au reports there has also been a COVID-19 case at Our Lady of Mercy College in Parramatta. The school is closed today to allow for deep cleaning and contact tracing.
