Catholics joining in will pray the Holy Rosary on Saturday between 2pm and 4pm AEST, with organisers encouraging people to say the Rosary in their parishes, ministry groups or at home.
Yvette Kaminski, Legion of Mary member from Brisbane's Geebung parish, said it was important for Catholics to pray for peace in the world at this time. She said organisers were hoping the nationwide Rosary would grow in popularity and become an annual event.
Organiser Theresa Blatchly, part of the Toowoomba Cathedral parish, had approached her local priest about starting a Rosary event. She said the idea was well-received and she was encouraged to start contacting her network of faithful about the idea.
The feast of Our Lady Help of Christians is on Tuesday, May 24.
Resources, including the prayer intentions, are available for people to take part, email Yvette Kaminski on [email protected]
