Majellan Media has partnered with the international Laudato Si’ Movement to inspire Catholic communities to tackle the ecological crisis and climate emergency.

Majellan Media chief executive Tony Biviano hailed the partnership as a significant step forward in the campaign to highlight the climate threat facing countries worldwide.

“This is an exciting new development and one which Majellan Media is thrilled to be a principal partner in Australia,” Mr Biviano said. “Many people, especially in our region of the world are facing a dire situation with rising seas predicted to swamp their island homes in the near future.

“We all know there is an urgent need for the ecological sustainability and health of the planet so we want to show families and parish communities how we can play our part.”

Tomás Insua, Executive Director of Laudato Si’ Movement, also welcomed the partnership. “Laudato Si’ Movement is so excited to be working with Majellan Media. Families play such an important role in the Church, and especially when it comes to hearing and responding to the cry of creation and the cry of the poor,” Mr Insua said.

“This important media partnership will help all families bring Laudato Si’ to life.”

The Laudato Si’ Movement is a global network of more than 800 organisations, named after Pope Francis' 2015 encyclical, Laudato SI’: On Care for Our Common Home. The movement’s mission is "to inspire and mobilise the Catholic community to care for our common home and achieve climate and ecological justice”.

In coming weeks, Majellan will publish articles that highlight what can be done at a local level to address the ecological crisis.
