Director of Teaching & Learning - Loreto Mandeville Hall Toorak, Toorak , VIC

The Role

Applications are invited from dynamic and experienced educational leaders for this highly valued role as a senior member of the Loreto Toorak School Executive.

Commencing Term 1, 2023 this role is responsible for leading the design and delivery of a world class curriculum, overseeing approaches to learning that inspire and challenge every student.
The successful candidate should be available to take up the appointment in January 2023. It is anticipated that there will be opportunities during the latter part of 2022 for the appointed candidate to visit the School and receive a comprehensive handover from the incumbent – who, after 11 years of outstanding service, will be moving into an Executive Deputy Principal role with another Catholic school.

About You

To be successful in this position, it is essential that you have:

• A vision for and an understanding of the future of teaching and learning for all students
• Knowledge and experience in development of best-practice curriculum and pedagogy
• An ability to challenge the status quo 
• Evidence of a personal commitment to learning, including relevant tertiary qualifications (Masters level preferred)
• Exemplary and experienced classroom practitioner
• Significant leadership experience within a secondary educational context
• An insightful understanding of the latest thinking and research into how young people - and specifically girls – learn
• Demonstrate an understanding of pastoral issues and student wellbeing
• Accomplished public speaker with well-developed communication skills
• Ability to displays a high level of self-awareness and the ability to maintain positive relationships

Applicants must have full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching including a current National Criminal Check. A commitment to the School’s Catholic ethos, in the tradition of Mary Ward, is also essential.
