The CRVEC represents the interests of Catholic schools in Victoria which historically were owned and governed by congregations or religious institutes. This includes 19 religious congregations or newly-formed ministerial public juridic persons (a type of corporation which conducts ministries under the auspices of a Church authority), who are responsible for 51 Catholic secondary schools and two Catholic primary schools in Victoria.

The website provides information on each of these governing bodies and a directory of schools. It lists all of the religious institutes and ministerial public juridic persons operating Catholic schools in Victoria. It also provides details of schools that have shared governance arrangements between religious institutes and parishes and dioceses are in place.

The site also lists the members of the committee and its terms of references.

Bernard Dobson, the executive officer of CRVEC, said: “It is hoped that those with an interest in Catholic education in Victoria will find the site useful. It is designed specifically to provide support for Catholic secondary schools in Victoria whose governing body is a religious institute, a ministerial public juridic person and/or an incorporated board.”

Mr Dobson said the site would provide principals and school governors with easily accessible audio-visual and printed materials to facilitate the formation of trustees, board and council members and staff.

He said it hoped that in the future, the site will include a newsletter "that can be used to communicate the outstanding work being done in our schools as we continue to proclaim the good news of Jesus the Christ".
