About Us
In 1838, five Sisters of Charity from Ireland arrived in Australia. They were the first religious women to come to the Colony. Their mission is to bring to all people “the love, tenderness and concern of Christ for the poor and marginalised”.
The Sisters of Charity of Australia led by the Congregational Leader and her Council have many mission involvements and work collaboratively with Boards and committees.
The Congregational Leader of the Sisters of Charity of Australia also leads the Congregation of Our Lady’s Nurses for the Poor.
The Congregational Office of the Sisters of Charity is located in Sydney’s Bondi Junction, with the Heritage Centre located at Potts Point. The office of Our Lady’s Nurses for the Poor is based in Coogee.
The Congregation is seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead their operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Congregational Leader, and with responsibility for a multi-disciplined team of around 16 staff, you will manage the business affairs and operations of the Congregation in line with the strategic direction of the organisation.
You will lead and drive cultural change, ensuring the charism of the Congregation is reflected in the culture of the various workplaces.
You will provide high-level strategic advice, reporting and support to the Congregational Leader and Council and liaise with the two Congregations’ Advisory Committees and external partners.
You will oversee the compliance, risk, regulatory and legal functions of the Congregation, including Safeguarding and Professional Standards matters, insurances, work health and safety and other workplace policies and procedures.
Using your exceptional people skills, you will develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work with staff to optimise performance and ensure excellence in service delivery.
The role is a full-time role based in Bondi Junction, with travel to the Coogee and Potts Point offices as needed.
Occasional interstate travel may be required, as a handful of staff are located in Melbourne and Brisbane.

- Current NSW Driver’s licence and access to a fully insured motor vehicle.
