About us

The Hermitage Spirituality Centre is a Ministry of the Marist Brothers, offering a variety of directed and conference style retreats. The Centre is a place of spiritual formation and rejuvenation that links the Marist story from past years to the present.

About the role

Reporting to and working in collaboration with the Hermitage Director, and as a member of the Executive team, you will be responsible for managing all operational functions of Ministry conducted at the Centre, including facilities, employment relations, information technology, compliance, work health and safety, guest relations and site management.

You will keep abreast of major policy developments, statutory compliance obligations and the industrial relations environment and provide high level analysis and advice to the Director.

Using your strong people management skills, you will ensure kitchen, facilities, maintenance and accommodation staff deliver quality, professional services to those visiting or staying at The Hermitage, while ensuring adherence to work health and safety and other workplace policies and procedures.

The role is a permanent, full-time role located in Mittagong, NSW. Occasional out of hours (including weekend) work may be required, with time off in lieu option for the successful candidate during non-peak periods.

About you

Key to this role is your experience in operations, facilities and people management, and experience in workplace compliance.

Just as important is your flexible approach to work and working hours, your understanding and commitment to the Mission of the Marist Brothers, and respect for the teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church.

Specifically, as the successful candidate you will ideally meet the following Key Requirements:

  • Experience in operations and facilities management or other area/s relevant to the role
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. facilities, property, contractor and/or risk management, HR, or related field) is desirable
  • Understanding and appreciation of the unique environment and activities that take place at spirituality and/or retreat centres
  • Demonstrated understanding, at a strategic and operational level, of budget management and resource allocation; work health and safety; compliance and risk management; equal employment opportunity; and child protection
  • Excellent people management, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with guests, visitors and staff in a respectful and welcoming manner
  • Excellent organisational & management skills and ability to learn quickly and meet deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of policies and procedures and demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Current NSW driver’s licence.
