Job Description
- Leading NZ Girls’ Catholic Secondary School with Enviable Reputation
- Rare Educational Leadership Opportunity
- New Zealand based role
About the College
Baradene College of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic College in Auckland and one of New Zealand’s leading girls’ secondary schools. The College has an enviable reputation for academic and all-round success with very high academic achievement and pass rates, and a rich offering in music, the performing arts, culture, and sports; all undertaken within the spirit of its special Sacred Heart charism. It is part of a worldwide network of Sacred Heart Schools across 41 countries.
The College is a state integrated secondary school teaching girls from Year 7 through Year 13. It has a current local role of approximately 1375 permanent students complemented by an additional 80 international students. The Society of the Sacred Heart has educated and empowered young women in a supportive, Catholic environment for over 100 years from its landmark campus in Remuera, Auckland.
Following the incumbent Principal’s retirement, the College is very well-positioned for ongoing success across a broad range of academic and co-curricular initiatives.
About the Role
Working closely with the College Board and the Proprietor (Baradene College Limited), the Principal will develop and implement the strategies required to ensure the institution’s legacy and exceptional levels of achievement are maintained and enhanced for the benefit of every individual student attending the College.
Central to the role is the overall leadership and management of the College; its students, staff and resources, including leadership of the Special Character within the school and oversight of its International Student programme. Integral to this will be the fostering of strong relationships amongst students, staff and the community, alongside the ongoing development of the College’s campus and resourcing capacity to meet future challenges.
Skills and Knowledge
The Board seeks an experienced and visionary Catholic Principal with a strong track record of leading academic excellence and a holistic education philosophy in a secondary school setting.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who acts with compassion, decisiveness, foresight and a genuine passion for girls’ education. Strengths in empowering teams towards providing innovative and quality learning programmes and activities in secondary education are critical to the position.
As Baradene is a Catholic College, a willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to the Special Character of the school is a condition of appointment.
Candidates who stand out will demonstrate a strong public presence, an energetic mindset, and a drive to continue Baradene’s journey and vision of “Educating and empowering confident young women”.
