About Centacare Evolve Housing

Centacare Evolve Housing (CEH) is one of Tasmania’s largest providers of community housing. Established in 2014, and operating as an entity of the Catholic Archdiocese of Hobart (Archdiocese), CEH’s purpose is to build new homes across the state and to offer a broad range of social and affordable housing that will help alleviate housing stress and develop opportunities to further contribute to individual, family and community wellbeing. In partnership with the Tasmanian Government and a range of service providers, CEH plays a pivotal role in ensuring all people have an opportunity to thrive.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to Executive Director – Administration and Finance of the Archdiocese, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead, inspire and promote a positive organisational culture that fosters and supports the mission of CEH and its operations.

Through the collaborative support and productive partnerships with local, state and federal government, as well as other strategic partners, your key areas of focus will be on sustainable growth and improving people focused outcomes through building and managing social and affordable homes across the state.

Working closely with the CEH leadership team, CEH Board and Agency Heads of the Archdiocese, and with a total workforce of 55 people across the state, you will lead the advancement of the vision and purpose of CEH. You will manage governance, risk and compliance pertaining to all aspects of strategy and operations.

You will embed an organisational culture of continuous improvement, using research, evidence, feedback and stakeholder relationships to continually evolve the organisation, ensuring it is meeting the needs of the community. You will maintain a highly developed network of strategic alliances within the community housing provider sector and relationships of influence with relevant government, for profit and non-government organisations that partner with CEH in achieving its vision.

This opportunity is a full-time role and based in Bridegwater, which is located in the northern suburbs of Hobart.  An attractive remuneration package, including a fully maintained motor vehicle, is being offered.

About You

This role will suit someone who has significant leadership experience in a service-based organisation, with demonstrated experience developing strategic plans and communicating an organisation’s mission and strategic direction.

Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience providing executive level leadership in a service organisation, e.g. social services or community housing
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, or Economics or a related discipline
  • A demonstrated commitment to the ethos and values of the Catholic Church
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans and a capacity to communicate the mission and strategic direction of an organisation
  • Demonstrated commercial, business, and financial acumen and a capacity to ensure sustainability in a changing funding environment
  • Highly effective negotiation skills and a proven record of building positive stakeholder relationships to leverage strategic partnerships
  • Knowledge of service delivery in the Social Welfare sector or Community Housing Provider experience is desirable
