POSITION VACANT: PARISH SECRETARY- LEVEL 5
(Part-time job share with option for full-time work including Pastoral Assistant role)

Macleay Valley Catholic Parish, part of the Diocese of Lismore, is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for the exciting role of Parish Secretary (part time job share 43 hours per fortnight with the option of full time including Pastoral Assistant role).
A Parish Secretary is required for a position of up to 43 hours a fortnight (negotiable) to provide coordinating, administrative, pastoral and associated support for the Parish, including the efficient management of the Parish Office. The successful applicant will be an essential support to the Parish Priest and Parishioners in a dynamic parish community on the beautiful NSW Mid North Coast, loving, serving and accompanying people throughout the full spectrum of life.
Located on the banks of the picturesque Macleay River in the Macleay Valley, the parish serves a broad community on the mid north coast of NSW including Kempsey, South West Rocks, Crescent Head, Smithtown, Gladstone, Willawarrin and Bellbrook. Surrounded by rainforest, national parks, rivers and beaches, and situated approximately halfway between Sydney and the QLD border, Kempsey is serviced by the North Coast railway line and Port Macquarie airport (approximately 30 minutes away).
Employment will be in accordance with the Clerks Private Sector Award 2020 (Cth) Level 5.
Selection Criteria:
- The ability to work within the mission, values and principles of the Catholic Church.
- Highly motivated with initiative and capacity to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to maintain Parish registers, draft correspondence, produce rosters and publications.
- Deal with all enquiries sensitively, especially with people seeking assistance.
- Proficiency in using the full complement of Microsoft Office applications and possess excellent data entry skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound time management, planning and organisational skills to meet priorities and deadlines with attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Entry level bookkeeping and website updating skills.
- Prior experience and/or appropriate qualifications related to this or a similar role.
