Job Description
If you have a passion for Catholic Education and a desire to provide leadership in missional governance of schools, we invite you to consider the position of Chair of our Board of Directors.
The Kildare Education Ministries (KEM) Board is responsible to the Trustees of Kildare Ministries for the oversight of seven schools which were owned by the Brigidine Sisters in Victoria and South Australia. Directors contribute to the education and wellbeing of 5,500 students, formation of 650 staff and the maintenance and development of the schools and their facilities.
KEM is part of Kildare Ministries, which governs a total of ten schools and three community works across four Australian States.
KEM is committed to ensuring its Vision, Mission and Values are realised through good governance which supports the transformative power of education, underpinned by sound educational practice, based on a rich Catholic and spiritual tradition. KEM schools provide an inclusive and socially just education.
We seek a highly capable Chair with experience in senior educational leadership and/or governance to lead, guide and support the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities for the seven schools. While the Chair needs to have sound knowledge of educational governance, previous Board experience is not required.
Along with professional competence, all KEM Directors demonstrate:
- respect for people, processes, diversity and decision making as elements of building a positive culture; and
- a commitment to, and a heart for, working with the marginalised.
The Kildare Education Ministries schools are:
- Clonard College, Geelong (Victoria);
- Kilbreda College, Mentone (Victoria);
- Kildare College, Holden Hill (SA);
- Killester College, Springvale (Victoria);
- Marian College, Ararat (Victoria);
- Marian College, Sunshine West (Victoria); and
- St Joseph’s College, Echuca (Victoria).
