The Mission & Evangelisation (M&E) team in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle focuses on sharing the Gospel with the contemporary world. They provide leadership and resources for Catholic formation, training, and encounters across the diocese.
This role supports faith communities to:
- Thrive in prayer, worship, and liturgy.
- Engage in and lead local faith formation.
- Seek mission opportunities in the world.
This role develops and coordinates innovative formation practices for all age groups, working with the Diocesan Liturgy Council and other groups to address community needs in worship and prayer. Parishes are central to the diocese’s mission, and this position fosters collaboration among faith leaders, volunteers, schools, and other church bodies under the Director of Mission & Evangelisation.
 Desired Skills and Experience
Experience/Criteria
- Person of faith with a commitment to the Catholic Church and a passion for formation and mission.
- Commitment to collaborative ministry and working with the Diocesan Liturgy Council.
- Pastoral experience in nurturing the liturgical life of communities.
- Ability to engage others in collaborative processes that develop supportive relationships amongst liturgical ministers and are focused on developing the liturgical life of the Church of Maitland-Newcastle.
- Ability to listen and be flexible.
- Commitment to the Catholic faith.
- Organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to engage, inspire, influence and deliver.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship skills.
- Sound computer literacy including the ability to effectively operate the Microsoft Office suite.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Theology, liturgy, adult faith formation and/or Religious Education, or equivalent qualification.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- NSW Employee Working with Children Check.
- Understanding and experience with Theological Reflection and discernment (Desirable).
