SPIRITUALITY MINISTRY, SISTERS OF ST JOSEPH
Centre Host – Josephite Mission and History Centre – Hobart, TAS
Permanent Part Time – 3 days a week
The Sisters of St Joseph’s (SOSJ) is a none for profit Catholic organisation, committed to a “whole of ministry” framework, which offers new and exciting possibilities.
The SOSJ Ministry overseas seven conference and retreat centers across the country.
Purpose:
Uphold, through word and deed, the purpose, vision, mission and values of the Spirituality Ministry.

Key Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Centre Host include but are not limited to:
Customer Service
- High level of commitment to exceptional customer service and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders and Centre Manager, to effectively manage the Centre’s strategic direction and ministry outreach.
- Oversee and manage the delivery of spirituality and faith formation activities such as retreats and reflection experiences, meetings, events, educational programs and accommodation services.
- Ensure ongoing evaluation of service delivery and seek customer feedback to improve products and services.
- Investigate and resolve any customer complaints promptly.
Marketing and Communications
- Promote and maintain the Centre as a place of spiritual enrichment and inspiration.
- Identify initiatives, programs and events that can be used to promote the Centre to the general public.
- Oversee fundraising activities and present submissions to Government and/or philanthropic organisations in line with the Ministry’s policy requirements and in consultation with the Centre’s Reference Committee.
- Consult with the Centre’s supporters, relevant authorities, community groups and the media to promote the Centre’s services, programs, facilities and programs as part of the ongoing work of the Spirituality Ministry
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of programs and services offered across the Spirituality Ministry network and promote the offerings to the Church and wider community.
- Establish and maintain strong networks with Catholic Schools and Parishes.
- Represent the Centre at meetings, conferences and community events.
Human Resources and Administration
- Assist with induction of new employees and volunteers, organise training, update handbooks and manuals as required
- Supervise local Centre staff and contractors
- Maintain accurate records of volunteers, ensure documentation and induction is complete.
- Provide ongoing support to volunteers and ensure the Centre meets all the necessary statutory requirements.
- Establish and maintain performance standards for relevant administrative duties and hospitality.
- Respond to stakeholder feedback on improving processes and procedures.
- Maintain administrative accuracy and due attention to detail.
Other duties
- Set up buffet with tea, coffee and juices for conferences and events
- Liaise with external catering services regarding supplies
- Monitor Food Health and safety at all times
- Engage in other duties commensurate with skills and experience and within the scope of this role or as directed by your
- Follow legal requirements and Congregational policies and procedures.

Essential criteria
- Demonstrated experience in general office procedures, reception, and administrative areas.
- High standard of professional ethics and confidentiality.
- Experience and understanding of Information and Communications Technology.
- Ability to set up ICT requirements for event.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to achieve agreed outcomes in a team environment.
- High level of organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated effective time management and organisational skills.
- Sound computer skills including competent use of Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to embrace and respect the ethos of the Spirituality Ministry
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience working with religious orders, parishes, church agencies or in the not-for-profit sector.
- Knowledge of Josephite History, Charism and Spirituality
