What does the role involve?   

Reporting to the Community Partnerships Associate Director, join us in this exciting newly created role. You will play a pivotal role in  inspiring and accompanying the Australian Catholic community in their commitment and journey towards ecological conversion, with a particular focus on growing the Catholic Earthcare Program.  

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to): 

  • Driving engagement with Catholic schools, parishes, and communities through the Catholic Earthcare program and initiatives like Project Compassion 
  • Growing the Catholic Earthcare network to enhance awareness of and commitment to integral ecology via effective communication, resources, and events 
  • Building strong partnerships with stakeholders in the Catholic Church, community, universities, and education sectors focused on social and climate justice 
  • Collaborating internally to develop impactful campaigns that spotlight our commitment to social justice and climate action, ensuring visibility and integration of our efforts. 

This role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne and will work a hybrid model, including two days in the office per week.   

Who are we looking for?   

The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia’s mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, a thorough understanding of the connection between poverty and caring for our common home, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:    

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, Theology, Environment, or Community Engagement, with additional coursework in integral ecology highly desirable 
  • Over 5 years of experience in building partnerships and managing community mobilisation with the Catholic community and organisations, including campaign and event management 
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategies that enhance engagement 
  • Exceptional ability to create engaging resources and content across various platforms, coupled with a solid understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and integral ecology.
