Job Description

Kildare Ministries is seeking an experienced and values-aligned Risk and Assurance Manager to lead strategic risk and assurance functions across our ministries.

The Risk and Assurance Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Trustees of Kildare Ministries by strengthening governance practices and leading enterprise risk initiatives that enable our ministries to thrive in mission, resilience, and accountability. About the Role

Based at the Kildare Ministries Office (Albert Park, Vic) and reporting to the Executive Director, the Risk and Assurance Manager provides strategic leadership in enterprise risk and assurance. You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer, the Executive Officer of Kildare Education Ministries, and the wider Mission and Ministry Team to develop and embed frameworks that support organisational resilience and risk-informed decision-making across all ministries.

You will guide the implementation of business continuity plans, internal audit processes, and quality assurance systems. As a key contact for Audit and Risk Committees and ministry leaders, you will build capability, foster compliance, and support the continuous improvement of governance practices in alignment with the mission of Kildare Ministries.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of Kildare Ministries’ enterprise risk management strategy
  • Strengthen risk, assurance, continuity, and incident management frameworks
  • Partner with stakeholders at all levels to ensure proactive, risk-informed leadership
  • Oversee the internal audit program and manage the relationship with external providers
  • Support disaster recovery planning in partnership with ICT leaders
  • Provide timely reporting and expert advice to governance bodies
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and strategic innovation
  • Provide functional leadership and professional development support to college-based Risk and Assurance staff

About You

You are a strategic and experienced professional with a strong foundation in enterprise risk management and a passion for supporting mission-driven organisations. You bring a collaborative leadership style, sound judgement, and a commitment to ethical governance and continuous improvement. Specifically, as the ideal candidate you will meet the following Key Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognised tertiary qualification, preferably in risk management and assurance
  • Extensive experience in enterprise risk, assurance, or compliance roles within complex organisations, ideally in education or the not-for-profit sector
  • Sound knowledge of ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management Guidelines
  • Understanding of the legislative and regulatory context for schools
  • Proven success partnering with Executive teams, Committees, and operational staff, including the ability to influence senior leaders and secure strong engagement

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, including high-quality report writing
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands

  • Strong sense of discretion, confidentiality, and professional ethics
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
