Mercy Partners is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation established in 2008 to sponsor and support ministries entrusted to us by our founding religious congregations and orders. Today, its ministries span education, health, aged care, social enterprise, and social justice.
It’s guiding mission is to contribute to the emergence of a world where the healing, liberating and life-giving mercy of God is experienced inspired by the values of Compassion, Justice, Respect and Hope
Mercy Partners provide:
- Governance, oversight, and support for Catholic ministries.
- Formation in spirituality, governance, mission, and Catholic identity for ministry leaders.
- Collaboration between ministries to respond to existing and emerging needs.
The Opportunities
Mercy Partners is seeking expressions of interest from experienced and values-driven leaders to join its Board as Non-Executive Directors. There will be up to 3 new appointments in the next 12 months.
You will play a vital role in shaping the future of Catholic ministries across Queensland and beyond. You will share in the collective responsibility for ensuring Mercy Partners fulfils its mission under both Canon Law and civil law, strengthening the Catholic identity of our ministries and supporting their sustainability and growth.
Key Responsibilities As a Non-Executive Director, you will:
- Provide governance leadership and strategic direction across all Mercy Partner ministries.
- Safeguard Catholic identity and mission while ensuring good stewardship of ecclesial and community assets.
- Oversee compliance with Canon Law, civil legislation (including ACNC and Corporations Act obligations), and organisational policies.
- Support the ongoing formation of leaders in Catholic ministries.
- Contribute to Board committees and ministry visitation responsibilities as delegated.
About You Are you a leader with:
- Significant board and/or executive experience in health, aged care, social enterprise, or community services.
- AÂ strong demonstrable commitment to Catholic mission, values, and tradition, and an ability to uphold and nurture these in complex governance settings.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management, and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Strategic capability, collaborative spirit, and sound judgement.
- A willingness to contribute to ministry formation and to engage with leaders across our network.
