Job Description

Are you a creative thinker with a passion for digital design and meaningful content? Join us in shaping the future of Religious Education in Catholic schools across Melbourne.

The To Know, Worship & Love (KWL) digital resource is undergoing a major transformation—bringing refreshed content and a visually engaging, interactive design to classrooms.

We are looking for a Digital Designer to help bring this vision to life. Collaborating with the KWL Coordinator and wider team, you’ll play a key role in elevating the visual presentation of key concepts and producing high-quality digital learning objects that inspire and inform.

About the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne (CAM)

The Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne (CAM) serves over 1.1 million Catholics, making it the largest Archdiocese in Australia. Guided by the Archbishop’s missionary focus, our ministries and agencies equip parishes, families, young adults, and the most vulnerable with pastoral, educational, and social welfare support.

The Impact You’ll Make

Your work will directly influence how Religious Education is experienced in Catholic classrooms. By creating visually engaging and interactive content, you’ll help deepen understanding, spark curiosity, and support teachers in delivering meaningful lessons.

This is more than a design role—it’s a chance to contribute to a project that blends faith, education, and innovation. Responsibilities include:

    • Collaborate with content contributors to design compelling visual concepts for Religious Education digital learning objects.
    • Conceptualise written content into engaging storyboards, prototypes, and final assets.
    • Create and modify static and interactive digital content, including templates and user interfaces.
    • Contribute to front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
    • Stay current with evolving web design trends and technologies to enhance product quality.

About You

You’re a creative and technically skilled designer with a passion for digital storytelling and user experience. You also bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Design, Communication, Multimedia, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).
  • Strong vector art and motion graphics skills for web-based content.
  • Experience with animation principles, debugging tools (e.g., Jira), and version control systems (Git).

Why work for us?

  • Location: Our offices are conveniently located adjacent to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, just a 5-minute walk from Parliament Station.
  • Meaningful Work: Be part of a mission-driven not for profit organisation that makes a difference in the community
  • Benefits: We offer a hybrid working model, employee assistance program to support your health and wellbeing and a staff discount program from Day 1.

How to Apply?

If you believe your skills and experience align with this position, we would love to hear from you. To submit an application, please click apply and provide a copy of your current resume and a cover letter.

Please note: We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Employment is subject to satisfactory background checks which include a National Police Check, Working with Children Check and Reference Checks. To be successful in this role you must hold valid working rights in Australia.

The Archdiocese is committed to the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of all children and vulnerable adults.
