About the Archdiocese of Sydney

The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney (Archdiocese) exists to serve the communities of the city of Sydney, including the Eastern, South-Western and lower North Shore suburbs. It does so through its agencies, ministries, parishes, and thousands more in the local communities through health and aged care, education, welfare and community services.

The Business Operations office is a key function within the Archdiocese that supports its various works and ministries and one that plays a key role in the delivery of the Archbishop’s strategic priorities.

We are seeking a highly skilled, executive-level administrator for the role of Executive Officer to support the Director of the office through a variety of tasks related to administration, organisation and communication.

This role is a full-time position and currently based at Leichhardt. The office will be relocating to the Sydney CBD in early 2027.  A hybrid working arrangement is available with this opportunity.

About the Opportunity

As Executive Officer, you will work closely with the Director to facilitate the achievement of objectives of the office.  Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Preparing governance briefing papers for meetings and preparing content for those meetings based on research
  • Supporting committee meetings with minute taking and distribution, meeting coordination and ensuring matters arising are actioned
  • Conducting research and data collection for the purpose of preparing briefing notes/papers and the creation of presentations
  • Managing the office’s software and databases systems and supporting other agencies in the use of those systems
  • Assisting with the preparation, communication and execution of Archdiocesan events
  • Providing support to the Director regarding diary management, travel arrangements, preparation of meeting packs and corporate credit card reconciliation
  • Ensuring the overall smooth running of the Business Operations office

About You

You will bring at proven experience in a similar role, a demonstrated record of being well-organised and effective, along with strong workflow and planning skills.

The Executive Officer will ideally possess the following Key Requirements:

  • An appreciation of the ethos, values and mission of the Catholic Church
  • Experience in a similar role, or in a role encompassing the responsibilities of this position
  • Knowledge of office management systems, practices and procedures with a demonstrated record of enhancing processes
  • High standard of professional competence, including accuracy of work, attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and a well-ordered approach to work
  • Highly adaptable, with excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively multi-task and prioritise work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
