Wellbeing Support Workers – (Hobart and Launceston) (TAS)
posted 1 day ago in Health , in Social ServicesJob Description
Founded in 1866 by Saint Mary MacKillop and Fr Julian Tenison Woods, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart operates as a registered charity with central offices in Sydney, regional offices across Australia, New Zealand and Ireland and a presence in some other countries.
We currently have an opportunity for two experienced Wellbeing Support Workers to join us in Tasmania on a casual basis. One position supporting Sisters in the Hobart region and one supporting Sisters in the Launceston region. These roles offer flexible, as-needed hours of approximately 5–10 hours per week, depending on the needs of the Sisters. The Wellbeing Support Worker is responsible for providing care and wellbeing support to the Sisters of Saint Joseph who live in and around Hobart or Launceston in Tasmania and takes guidance and direction from the Regional Leader or her delegate, based in Melbourne, Victoria, to ensure that quality care and support is provided.
What we offer
Whilst an induction and guidance are provided, this newly created role is a standalone position. The key purpose of this role is to look after the health care needs of the sisters living in the Hobart or Launceston area. This role involves providing support to the sisters by visiting them in their homes and/or checking in with them by phone and ensuring that their well-being and social needs are met. As part of the role, you will arrange and take sisters to medical appointments and act as their advocate. You will also be required to manage/arrange Aged Care Packages as required. The role requires some flexibility in days and hours to be worked to meet the needs of the sisters.
In addition to taking sisters to and from appointments, we would expect that the administrative aspects of this role can be carried out from your own home.
About you
You are a compassionate and caring person who uses their initiative. You have a background in nursing or community care, and you are comfortable working in a standalone role under general direction. You are able to work flexible days and hours (as negotiated from time to time) to meet the needs of the sisters. Ideally you have access to a reliable motor vehicle (all travel expenses will be reimbursed).
All staff are expected to act in a manner consistent with the ethos and mission of the Sisters of Saint Joseph.
We encourage applicants to read our Adult and Child Safeguarding Commitment Statement, Safeguarding Code of Conduct, and Safeguarding Policy, as part of the application process. These documents are available on our website under the heading ‘Safeguarding’ (www.sosj.org.au)
