The Catholic Parish of Chatswood is seeking a faith-filled, enthusiastic and relationally focused Pastoral Support Worker to lead and coordinate our Children’s Ministries and Sacramental Programs.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the evangelisation and faith formation of children and families within one of the Diocese of Broken Bay’s vibrant parish communities.
Working closely with the Parish Priest and Parish Team, you will help create meaningful opportunities for children and families to encounter Christ through parish life, sacramental preparation and active participation in the life of the Church.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate Children’s Ministries within the parish community.
- Prepare and facilitate sacramental programs for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
- Support and engage parents and families throughout sacramental preparation journeys.
- Coordinate Family Mass initiatives and encourage participation by children and families.
- Recruit, support and resource parish volunteers involved in children’s ministries.
- Develop communications and promotional material relating to children’s ministries and sacramental programs.
- Foster strong relationships with parishioners, local schools and diocesan stakeholders.
About You
The successful applicant will ideally demonstrate:
- A personal Catholic faith and commitment to the mission of the Catholic Church.
- Experience in children’s ministry, sacramental preparation, religious education or a related pastoral ministry.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience working with volunteers and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and contemporary communication tools.
Essential Requirements
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Eligibility to work in Australia.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
