Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and enthusiastic applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Principal: Curriculum, to join the leadership team of The Cathedral College, Rockhampton, commencing in January 2025.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for applicants demonstrating deep commitment to Catholic education, who actively participate in the faith life of their parish, and who have strong teaching experience, academic qualifications and leadership qualities.

As a member of the school’s leadership team, the Assistant Principal: Curriculum (APC) will influence and have responsibility for long and short-term goals and directions in teaching, learning and curriculum. Additionally, the APC provides leadership in areas delegated by the Principal in the APC duty statement.

Key leadership qualities and capabilities

We are seeking to appoint a leader who

  • demonstrates a deep and sincere commitment to Catholic education
  • can provide strong leadership of the curriculum including implementation of Australian Curriculum, QCAA endorsement and confirmation processes, approaches to assessment, and integration of technologies across the curriculum
  • is able to consolidate whole school approaches to curriculum planning, resulting in systematic curriculum delivery
  • has experience of leading school-based initiatives through designing and supporting effective professional development
  • can foster a culture of inspirational teaching and learning and lead the development and implementation of school improvement initiatives
  • is willing to provide leadership in areas delegated by the Principal in the APC duty statement, and can lead in ways that are consistent with
    • the message of Jesus and the Gospels
    • Catholic church teachings, principles and values
    • Diocesan policies and directives
    • The Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton Charter
    • Catholic Education Mission and Vision Statements, policies, practices and strategic directions.

The Cathedral College, is a Catholic, co-educational, Secondary, Boarding College with Catholic Education in the Diocese of Rockhampton. The College aims to deliver a holistic Catholic Education where academic excellence goes hand in hand with spiritual, emotional, physical, cultural and social development.

Mandatory Requirements 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and the ability to obtain approved Queensland College of Teachers Registration
